Sunnies by Charlie has made a name for itself ever since it has sold chic but affordable sunglasses. They’ve also branched out to Sunnies Specs to provide some of the most fashionable glasses. Now, they have just recently opened their newest addition: Sunnies Cafe. It’s been about a week since our new favorite cafe has come to town! Ever since its opening, Sunnies Cafe has been jam-packed with people, but despite the long line, people still patiently wait for their turn to know what’s been keeping customers come back for more.
To add some sweetness to your meal, you can start of by sipping from their Kimye Milkshake (PHP 190). Yes, I know. Seeing the price makes you have second thoughts about buying it or not, but it’s really worth a try. Besides, aren’t milkshakes always usually pricey? The Kimye is a very chocolatey drink as it is made of Cookies and Cream ice cream, malted milk, nutella, topped with whipped cream and crushed oreos. Once served at our table, I couldn’t wait to drink it. It was love at first sip. I somehow wished it was served together with the food so that I wouldn’t drink it so fast. Nothing but good comments only about this drink.
My mom, being the pasta lover that she is, just had to order a pasta dish. We went for the Mr. Bolognese (PHP 260). The pasta used is rigatoni, which is mixed with beef sauce, parmesan, and basil. Sunnies Cafe sure made a way to add their own little twist to this well-known dish.
This may not be a crowd favorite, but the Chicken and Waffles (PHP 260) turned out to taste really good. To be honest, it actually stole the show. We were about to finish the Bolognese pasta when they served the Chicken and Waffles. At first we were hesitant about our order because it does sound like a weird combination, but no regrets came when we practically devoured the whole dish. The chicken is a bit sweet, which makes it go well with the waffle. If you’re willing to go out-of-the-box, this dish is a good choice!
We were about to get our bill when a waiter approached us and asked us if we were ready for dessert. Of course both me and my mom were shocked and we told them that we didn’t order any dessert. Little did we know that they were giving away free dessert until August 8! The Sunnies Funfetti (PHP 290) has sponge cakes which are soaked in three different kinds of milk. It is also served with ice cream and candy sprinkles. Even though I was very full, I couldn’t help but eat this delicious dessert because the cake is so moist and tasty plus it goes really well with the ice cream.
The restaurant gives me that Southern Californian feel, and they really nailed the look of the cafe! I love how its interiors are well-designed.
Definitely one cafe that I will find myself coming back to! Their staff is super friendly (plus I love their cute uniforms). The service was not as fast, but you’ll forget about it once the food arrives. Nothing much to complain about except the long line of customers in the waiting list. But then again, good things come to those who wait. Good food, good ambiance, good experience! I left this place with a smile on my face and a happy tummy.
